Adonai

"Adonai " a-do'-ni, ad-o-na'-i ('adhonay) is a Hebrew word that means "Lord" or "Master." It is used in religious contexts, particularly in Judaism, as a respectful way to refer to God. In Jewish tradition, "Adonai" is used to replace the Tetragrammaton (YHWH), the four-letter name of God that is considered too sacred to be pronounced. Instead of saying the actual name, "Adonai" is used to show reverence and respect when addressing or referring to God in prayer, worship, or other religious contexts.
